Amanda and Misty might be less famous than Tammy and Amy, but they are no less when it comes to transformation and weight loss. The other Slaton sisters have also undergone major weight loss, and the fans can’t get enough of it.

1000 Lb Sisters: Misty & Amanda Show Off Massive Transformation

Tammy and Amy are famous among the TLC audience. Some people might even say they are synonymous with weight loss. Amy and Tammy had been the stars of their TLC show. But their siblings also made appearances from time to time. So, the fans also know about Misty, Chris, and Amanda. While they appear less on the show, the other Slatons have also made major strides towards weight loss.

Another less famous sister duo from the show is Misty and Amanda. While they spent less time on 1000 Lb Sisters, they were also on their own weight loss journey. Misty was on the show since season 1, while Amanda joined in season 4 after her messy and arduous divorce. But this doesn’t mean they weren’t on the weight loss journey. On the contrary, the lesser famous sisters have also undergone massive transformation. In season 5, the fans even saw the duo have a tough talk with the rest of the family.

Misty and Amanda had decided to go for bariatric surgery in season 5. However, the surgery isn’t without risks, especially for Amanda, as it is her second time. The duo revealed they had “been going to see Dr. Smith.” After that, they revealed the risks, which included operation table deaths. Misty had the surgery in March 2023. Dr. Smith had even posted a clip of it on Instagram. He had explained in the caption that “bariatric surgery can cause remission of type 2 diabetes in patients.” Luckily, the 1000 Lb Sisters star lost enough weight to get off her diabetes medication.

Misty even posted a TikTok in December 2023, showing her face looking slimmer. Even Amanda had undergone much change. She had surgery in 2014 and lost over 300 lbs. Then, in March 2024, she posted about her first surgery anniversary or “surgeversary.” Fans could see how thin Amanda was looking.

1000 Lb Sisters: Amanda & Misty’s Hard Journey

What most 1000 Lb Sisters fans don’t know is that Misty had been taking diabetes medication before her March 2023 surgery. She had been taking the medication to keep her blood sugar supply normal. Luckily, she lost enough weight not to need the medication anymore.

Misty continued her weight loss in private and looked very different in her December 2023 TikTok. Her sister Amanda had the surgery back in 2014. She lost close to 300 lbs, but she did not appear on 1000 Lb Sisters until season 4. Amanda had been going through a messy divorce in the earlier seasons.

The star had divorced Jason Halterman, and the court finalized the divorce in August 2022. Amanda and Jason have four sons together. But now the couple is living separately. Amanda has lost more weight since her first surgery.
